The lure of the deep. There’s something exciting and mysterious about exploring deeper dive sites while scuba diving. Sometimes it’s a wreck that attracts you below 18 metres/60 feet or a thresher shark cleaning station, perhaps on wall dives it may be a giant fan or sponge or mola mola. Whatever it is, to scuba dive with confidence at depths down to 40 metres/130 feet, you should take the PADI Deep Diver Specialty course.

Mission Statement

The Deep Diver Specialty course qualifies you to dive up to a depth of 40m. and is ideal for extending your range to explore reefs, wrecks and marine life at deeper recreational limits.

You’ll learn about deep dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and hazards. You will be able to put this knowledge to the test as you complete 4 open water dives that range from 18 – 40 metres / 60 – 130 feet.

When you dive below 18 metres/60 feet, there are special safety considerations. If you’re ready to expand your boundaries, a PADI Instructor will help you gain the skills and confidence to explore to a maximum depth of 40 metres/130 feet.

During the Deep Diver course, you’ll learn how to plan deep dives, manage your gas supply and how to identify and manage narcosis. You’ll learn about buddy contact procedures, safety considerations and buoyancy control at depth.
