Mission Statement
Invertebrates are animals that lack a vertebral column. They were the first animals to exist on Earth and have been here for over 500 million years! Invertebrates make up most of the life on Earth and are vital to the health and well-being of our planet.Â
In the Marine Invertebrate Ecology program, you will discover the different types of invertebrates found in the ocean and find out why these creatures are a vital part of ocean ecosystems.
Become aware of the dangers of an imbalance of marine invertebrates in our oceans, become a marine protector and help to increase awareness and spread the word.
Habitat destruction, fisheries activities, and the introduction of exotic species are among the primary causes leading to the endangerment of marine invertebrates. More marine organisms are threatened by increasing human pressures in the 21st century than ever before.
